Holiday greetings!
We spent Christmas Day in the traditional Jewish manner - seeing a movie, then going out for Chinese. It was actually pretty hard to find a Chinese restaurant that was open; fortunately one of the movie theatre ticketers knew a restaurant that was open in the next town over... in Massachusetts.
We saw "Sherlock Holmes", and we really really enjoyed it! I don't know how I feel about the fact that we have learned to identify Hans Zimmer's music but man, it sure lent a Pirates of the Caribbean-y adventure-y feel to the movie! I loved the crap out of Robert Downey Jr.'s Holmes and Jude Law's Watson. Now I want to re-read whatever Holmes-iana we might have at home. I got two books by the guy who wrote "The Seven Per Cent Solution", but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't request and get "The Seven Per Cent Solution" from Paperback Swap as well.
We opened our Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers (popcorn topping! Rockhopper Penguin cough drops! TEA!!! SOCKS! THANK YOU EVERYONE!) and I finished up my Kitten Mittens (cast on in frickin' AUGUST, I don't think MIL realizes how long it takes me to finish non-hat projects).
Kitten Mittens!

And once I finished those, I was able to cast on for...
Bunny Hop Slippers pattern, from Nikol Lohr and Craftzine!
These are thrummed slippers. And they knit up ridiculously quickly. I cast on while we watched a whole bunch of Sarah Jane Adventures episodes and the new Doctor Who special, and finished the ears and strap around 2 AM. I am so glad I went with the Berkshire Bulky yarn, as the wool-alpaca blend makes them so soft.
( More Bunny Hop pics! )And then I knit on straps and ears and did some temporary eyes, and need to do a nose. And a button!
Guys, guys, I love this pattern! Please raise your hand if you can wear wool fibers and would like a pair for winter (either this one or next winter, it all depends on when I can go to WEBS again), because omg! OMG!
Both the yarn and the fluffy roving were purchased 12/24, when we met up with the in-laws at WEBS and MIL bought me... a whole bunch of yarn! Most of it from the super-clearance warehouse at the back of the store.
This yarn makes me happy just looking at it.

We lunched at Zen in Northampton, then came home to find a ginormous gift tower from my parents on the doorstep. And then I found a Knitpicks gift certificate in my e-mail inbox. And I baked chocolate chip cookies and made mushroom risotto, which we ate as we watched "A Muppet Christmas: Letters to Santa".
And a Merry Happy Jolly was had by all.
